Masterson’s Tavern , positioned in the vibrant core of Moonee Ponds, markets itself as a trendy “hipster” hangout , but my unfortunate encounter at this establishment turned into one of the worst experiences of my life . While the bar may present a friendly façade, what I discovered behind its threshold was appalling and beyond comprehension .

The State of Affairs: Unhygienic and Disregarded
From the moment I entered , it was apparent that hygiene was not a priority at this establishment . The floors were sticky , and a foul smell of old alcohol and uncleaned toilets permeated the entire venue . Smelling a mixture of excrement , old age and sickness . The serving zone , which should be the main attraction of any pub, was cluttered with dirty glasses and trash that looked like it had been ignored for a long time . The bathroom was in even more deplorable shape — backed up, with a snapped lever and walls stained in what I can only assume was fecal matter .

It wasn’t just a isolated occurrence either. After reading through multiple accounts and conversing with residents , it seems that the standard of sanitation (or lack thereof) at this bar is a long-standing issue . Many visitors have reported observing cockroaches darting across the bar area and traces of mice in the storage spaces . His presence at the bar often appeared as that of a lurking threat than a welcoming host .
